Hangi - moment in time

It was a light, sunny cloudy day. There are many people that are gathered around the hangi, it looks to me that there are students and teachers that might have been on a school trip to see the hangi happening live. There are seven men that are carrying a steel open cage that is filled with food. Smoke is coming from the pit which is cooked on heated stones with taro leaves on top.

All of the food is wrapped in tin foil to keep it from burning and getting dirty. On the side of the hangi there is a big pile of burnt coal that looks like ashes. There are numerous amounts of food that are being cooked. It looks like pork, chicken, vegetables and much more. The students and teachers are standing on the side observing the 7 strong men that are laying down a big pile of food in the pit of stones and taro leaves. In the background there is a turquoise coloured van with a trailer that is hooked onto the back of the van, it looks to me as if the trailer was used to hold the big silver caged food. Trees sway side to side, as the wind blows hard against the peoples faces, and the smoke bursts out from beneath food in the pit.

This is my hangi moment in time that I have done on the image above. I worked with Ferah and Karla and we did a collaborative writing together. This is our collaborative work - Collaborative work
