Hangi - moment in time

It was a light, sunny cloudy day. There are many people that are gathered around the hangi, it looks to me that there are students and teachers that might have been on a school trip to see the hangi happening live. There are seven men that are carrying a steel open cage that is filled with food. Smoke is coming from the pit which is cooked on heated stones with taro leaves on top.

All of the food is wrapped in tin foil to keep it from burning and getting dirty. On the side of the hangi there is a big pile of burnt coal that looks like ashes. There are numerous amounts of food that are being cooked. It looks like pork, chicken, vegetables and much more. The students and teachers are standing on the side observing the 7 strong men that are laying down a big pile of food in the pit of stones and taro leaves. In the background there is a turquoise coloured van with a trailer that is hooked onto the back of the van, it looks to me as if the trailer was used to hold the big silver caged food. Trees sway side to side, as the wind blows hard against the peoples faces, and the smoke bursts out from beneath food in the pit.

This is my hangi moment in time that I have done on the image above. I worked with Ferah and Karla and we did a collaborative writing together. This is our collaborative work - Collaborative work

Rower - Moment in time

It is a scorching hot day, blue clouds are bright as blue the sun is out and shining upon the ocean water. In the distance I can see a tropical looking island with a grassy mountain peak. There are two men that seem to be wearing black life jackets with yellow zips and they are both in yellow kayaks.

In this image I can see that one of the men got attacked by a pink salmon like octopus. He has a hard grip on his paddle and is using it to try and distance himself from the octopus. There is a big splash of water as the seal rushes up from beneath the water and tosses the octopus to the man in the kayak. It seems to me that a giant octopus got thrown from the brown shimmering seal towards the man on the bright yellow coloured kayak, and the man was using his paddle to defend himself from the octopus.

Behind all of the tragedy happening, there’s a man that is also in a yellow kayak. It looks like he wasn’t paying much attention to what had happened. Afterwards the man might have been in a big shock. I can see the tentacles and suckers that look like suction cups on the octopus. It looks like the man had gotten hit by the octopus. It got thrown by the seal right towards the man than suddenly he got hit on the face by the large sized octopus. The two guys in the kayaks both must have got a big shock when the octopus leaped out of the sea out of nowhere.

The person who took the photo/video must have got a big fright from that as well. In this photo I can see a big blob of water as the shimmering seal popped its head out of the water, as the water splashed onto his face he could taste sea salt water. The seal has white long thin whiskers and a big shiny brown body. The octopus has enormous long tentacles, and a long slimy body shaped like an oval.

My Group's collaborative piece of writing
In my group we had to describe the above picture and we did a joint Moment in Time piece of writing together. In my group I worked with Melianna and havana. This is our collaborative work

Child Bride

Child Bride

Weddings are supposed to be a memorable day, when you celebrate all the good things and not
the bad. Celebrating the bride and groom on their special day should be full of happiness, however
in this image it seems to me that this bride does not look happy and joyful at all. I can tell by her
face that she doesn't look happy in any kind of way. In fact she looks like she is scared and
terrified about making a commitment to her marriage with an elderly man.

In the background it seems to me that this marriage is taking place on some sort of bridge, which
has locks on it called “Love locks”. The bride or bride to be is holding a bunch of beautiful colourful
flowers, and she is wearing a bright floral white dress that gives you a hint that she is getting married. The man next to the woman is wearing a black and white tuxedo, with a flower on his left outside
pocket. The woman looks nervous and depressed all in one, but the man of course looks like he is
getting on with his day and he looks quite happy.

The background slowly fades away as the magnificent bright burning sun shines upon the bride and
groom. The elderly man looks as if he’s in his sixties, yet he is marrying a young beautiful girl that is way too young for him to marry. As the elderly man gives the girl a grin on his face, the girl’s
expression on her face tells you that she is horrified, and looks kind of scared and afraid of this man.

Is is right is it fair? For an older man to marry an underaged beautiful girl. In my opinion, no I think
that this is all wrong, unless the younger woman would want to marry an older man than that is
totally up to her. In this image this girl looks unhappy and devastated, so I think that she was forced
by the man to get married to him. Maybe he wants someone young to marry him so then in the
future when he starts getting old she will look after him and do everything for him.

Making butter - Kitchen Chemistry Experiment

For this experiment we were trying to make butter out of cream and salt. Out of all the experiments that we have done, making butter would be my overall favourite one that we did. I really enjoyed this experiment and I really did learn a lot about how to make butter just using cream and salt.

Popping candy - Kitchen Chemistry Experiment

For this experiment we had added popping candy to different types of liquid. Afterwards we had to see the reaction that the popping candy would do if we added it into the liquid.

Milk - Science Kitchen Chemistry

For this past week we have been doing science. Science is really fun and we all learned a lot of things about science that we didn't know before. For this experiment we had to see the reaction of what the detergent does to the milk and food colouring.
