Aiulu's Journey - Nana

Aiulu is from Asau in Samoa and her mother gave birth to her in her at
her own home in Samoa in her village in 1955. She came to New Zealand
on April 12 1980. she got sent here by her Grandad that she grew up with
her Grandad sent her here to have a better life and make her own little
family here in New Zealand. She came her to New Zealand to work and to
help out her family living in Samoa. She did have family here so she came
here to live with them and to find a good job.

Aiulu arrived here by plane and she came from Samoa straight to Auckland
New Zealand, where some of her family where living. She ended up staying
in Auckland upon her arrival and then ended up living in Auckland ever
since. Aiulu thought that the people were very friendly towards her. She
said that New Zealand was more easier to get a job than Samoa. In Samoa
it was quite hard to find a good job and get good money to help her family.
Her family were poor and my Nana had quite a lot of siblings. She was
home sick when she arrived and she really missed her family in Samoa a
lot. My Nana thinks that her home now is both Samoa and New Zealand.
She got married here and had kids, but she'll never forget her birthplace or
her family in Samoa.

Aiulu really missed the food, fun, life, and family and friends in Samoa.
She she has been back to Samoa with her whole family to go and see her
mum, and her family that are in Samoa. She can’t wait to go back again.
She misses everything in Samoa, mostly her family and her parents which
have both sadly died. They are buried in Samoa.

Kiribati

The last 2 weeks just before the holidays we had to choose a country that was going to the commonwealth games and we had to write down some facts about the country we had chosen.

Maths Dictionary

For about 2 weeks we have been doing our tapas and this was one of the follow up tasks we had to do after we had finished our tapa cloths. This is a Maths Dictinary and I had to find words that I came across while making my tapa cloth and you had to write down the definition of each word.

Argument on Cadbury

Argument about Cadbury
When you think or see Cadbury Chocolate all you think is “Mmmm Yum” but this
is not what this situation is about. Do you really want the Cadbury company to close
down? The Cadbury business has been around for 150 years. In my opinion I think
this is atrocious, I think that they should have never planned to close down the
Cadbury Factory because I love to eat Cadbury bars, don't you? 1930 was epic.
Richard Hudson and the Cadbury company had teamed up together to make our
magnificent countries first bar of Cadbury milk chocolate.

This is very unfortunate that the Cadbury chocolate company is closing down,
indeed I am very disappointed and annoyed about it. This would cause people to
lose their jobs and it would be hard for people to find another job. It would affect
our countries economy because the chocolates are being made in Australia. If you
were to now go into supermarkets the prices might have gone up or Australia may
have changed the previous recipe and the Cadbury Chocolate may taste different
to the original Chocolate. I think this is quite repulsive because I would not have
wanted the Cadbury chocolate factory to close down because in New Zealand.
We only have one chocolate factory that has been here for 150 years now. WOW!!
So this company has been open for years in New Zealand so why would people
want to close down the factory?.

I am really disappointed that Cadbury had first announced that they were officially
closing down the only Cadbury Chocolate factory in New Zealand. The reason why
I am so upset is that they have actually closed down and that they are ruining
history. This company has been in Dunedin for years and they really want to close
it down now!!.The Cadbury Chocolate factory in Dunedin has been opened since
1884 and has been here since then. Now the factory is officially closed. This means
over 350 people have lost their jobs. This is just horrific for those losing their
jobs, because they may have families to look after and to pay for general household
bills.

Overall in my opinion I think that the Cadbury Factory should have never closed
down. Kiwis really love their Chocolates especially Cadbury chocolates made
freshly in New Zealand. It’s our only Chocolate factory that was ever in
New Zealand. I would have loved it if our Chocolates were made in Aotearoa
but sadly it they are being made overseas. Hopefully in the near future one day
our Cadbury Chocolates will be made in New Zealand again. Even though, our
chocolate is being made in Australia I am a proud kiwi and proud to know that
Cadbury has had a long history here in New Zealand. It will always be a kiwi
favourite!

Tapa Cloth Reflection

Tapa Cloth Reflection

1.Are you pleased with your accomplishment? Why / Why Not?
Yes I am pleased with my work because it came out good and how I would have wanted
it to be. Overall it was a beautiful Tapa and it looked really good at end of this process.

2. What were some of the most interesting discoveries you made while
working on your Tapa Cloth? About the task? About myself?
That I made a few mistakes and at the end after I had completed the Tapa it turned
out good. It looked like I had no mistakes.

3. What were some of my most challenging moments in making my Tapa Cloth
and what made them so?
The most challenging moments was having to draw my design onto the big Tapa paper
which was quite hard because I first did it in my maths book and then had to redo it
onto a big paper. It was quite challenging.

4. What would you do differently if you were to make a Tapa Cloth again?
I would try a different island design and see how it goes. I would also try and do
it on a smaller or bigger piece of paper to see if it would make it look better or worse.

5. What / who helped you with your Tapa Cloth?
I searched up some Tapa cloth ideas on Google images and I took some ideas from
other Tapas. I put the designs altogether and then I transferred it onto a bigger piece
of paper.

6. What could you modify / alter on your Tapa Cloth
I would have made my design a bit better and create more challenging designs
for me to do.

7. What aspect of your Tapa Cloth are you most proud of?
I am quite proud of my design because it came out really bold and it showed
great contrast of colour.

Traffic

For a couple of weeks I have been learning and making a presentation about traffic. Here is a presentation that me and two other students have made on powtoon. It is all about traffic and it has a few facts that we have found about traffic and how to stop and avoid traffic. It also has questions that we have answered and I hope when you watch this presentation you can find out more about traffic and it will help you.
